Kent or Oregon...
Where do you feel Earth’s spirit?
Here I’m in the forest in Oregon. Cathedral like Douglas fir and Western redcedar stretch to the heavens. It feels like the canopy brushes the sun and the roots touch the core of the Earth. It is easy to feel spirit here. The trees stop you in your tracks.
In England I live in the National Landscape of the Darent Valley. I walk, wild sleep and practise in gentle pastoral beauty. Still, it arrests me.
I don’t think Earth needs to be astonishing to give us pause and awe. We only need to slow down and pay attention.
